Warning: Some public strips have been removed on 1999 March 19:


The DENIS data which were released on 1998 Dec. 21 are not part of the final DENIS catalogue. They were only made available to the public as a first test sample. The pipeline used for sources extraction has undergone several changes since, leading to major improvements in the data quality.

Some of the data (19 strips) were suppressed on 1999 Mar. 19, because their quality was found not to be sufficient.

These problems should disappear in the next release of the DENIS data: artifact filtering will be more efficient, and the final astrometry will be based on the Tycho catalogue (via the USNO A2.0 catalogue).

More information is now given on each strip, and users are encouraged to refer to these pages for additional information on the quality of the data they retrieve.
