The `StarPages' cover more specifically the members of the Star*s Family accessible on the WWW.
The Star*s Family resources offer outstanding features such as a twenty-year tradition/experience in compilations, a resulting excellent exhaustivity of entries (including thousands of entries without WWW link), an homegeneous coverage of all practical data, a permanent updating and quality checking scheme (including authentication of data originators), the largest amount of URLs available in a set of astronomy resources, a unique astronomy-oriented dictionary of acronyms and abbreviations, and so on.
The products are structured essentially around three sets of master files:
The Star*s Family line includes also StarLabels (sets of mailing stickers bearing addresses contained in the permanently updated StarGuides master files) and StarSets (subsets of StarGuides and StarBriefs data on various media).
These other products are made available under some conditions of requirement and usage.
It is a very pleasant duty to express here our gratitude to the institutions and individuals who have helped in various ways to compile the information presented in the Star*s Family of Astronomy and Related Resources.
The implementations as databases of the Star*s Family files by the European Space Agency, the European Southern Observatory and Strasbourg Astronomical Data Centre have been strong incentives to continue and always improve these time-consuming compilations.
